Pitching Problems

There was a very interesting article in last Sunday's NY Times Sports section. It was almost a full page story about the success of the White Sox pitching. In an interview with the White Sox pitching coach, they discussed the success and turn around of some pitchers, such as Jose Contreras and Javier Vasquez. The coach explained that there were only slight modifictions needed with both to turn them into winning pitchers. He went on to state that "he couldn't understand" why the Yankees got rid of Contreras.

I can!!!

Something else for you folks to ponder. Clueless Joe has no idea what he's doping with the pitching staff!!! He "protects" his starters by limiting them to about 100 pitches. In the meantime, he has the relievers warming up whenever the opposition gets a couple of men on base. He then overuses the relievers daily.
This sets up a scenario whereby at the end of the season, his starters are reasonably well rested to pitch six or seven innings, but his relievers are completely worn out. Torre destroyed Tanyon Sturtze, and now he's doing the same thing to Scott Proctor. (By the way, Proctor was a starting pitcher, but clueless Joe was afraid to give him a chance.) Aaron Small did his best last season as a starter, not reliever, but Joe keeps using him as his long reliever. I will admit that this is not as dumb as Willie Randolph refusing to use Aaron Heilman as a starter. Willie has learned from Torre how to destroy a pitching staff, and to never trust young pitchers, unless he is forced to do so by management.
In the meantime Mariano Rivera is not the pitcher that he once was. Yes, he still has enough to go out there and save games, but he is no longer the dominant closer. Both age and overuse have seen to that.
Thank goodness that Chen Ming Wang has lousy English, and he has no idea what Torre and his boys are talking about.
Now who in the overpaid Yankee organization can help out a fading Randy Johnson???

Johnson is sailing along tonite with 7 shutout innings, a buttload of Ks and only 106 pitches and 5-0 lead. So what does Joe do? Yanks him out and puts in Scott (Rotator-to-go) Proctor. One 2-run homer and a single later and Mariano has to come in to save the game when he should've been asleep in the clubhouse. Joe, WTF are you doing??

        Definition of INSANITY.
Doing the same thing over and over again, with the same result!!!
Clueless Joe and his use of relief pitchers every night is a perfect example of insanity.

How often will the moron do the same thing, with the same result. (Farnsworth may throw 100 mph, but his ball is perfectly straight.) Last night he took out Johnson pitching a shut out, and tonight, it was Wright who had given up one run.

Maybe, we should make up a petition to send to Steinbrenner, in order to ban Clueless Joe from having anything to do with the pitching staff !!!!!

Last night's game was proof that you don't need brains or an understanding of baseball to win... Clueless Joe followed his moronic formula, and he removed Jaret Wright in the sixth inning, after giving up all of five hits. This set up a scenario, where he was forced to bring in TJ Bean to pitch the eighth inning, and then necessitated his bringing in poor Scott Procter, who he's grooming for the DL. Finally, out of desperation, he brought in Shawn Chacon with the bases loaded and no outs. The Yankees were saved by a shot from Heaven, as a line drive was scorched directly into Chacon's glove for an inning ending double play. (It could have been a quadruple play, if there was such a thing.) Why are the Gods rewarding Torre's stupidity???

BTW, after warming up for ages, Farnsworth disappeared, allegedly because he couldn't loosen up his back.
