Re: 80-62 The Beginning or the End???
Mon, September 12, 2005 - 7:20 AMYanks really needed to sweep the Sox to have any hope of finishing first. Tampa on the horizon Yanks lucky to be in the wildcard race come the end of the week. -
-
Re: 81-62 The Beginning or the End???
Tue, September 13, 2005 - 7:42 PMAt least the Bosox are making it interesting...
Why did Clueless Joe leave Sheffield in, with a 10-2 lead??? -
-
Re: 82-62 The Beginning or the End???
Wed, September 14, 2005 - 9:53 PMFinally, 20 games over .500.

Re: 83-62 The Beginning or the End???
Thu, September 15, 2005 - 8:23 PMOne game behind the Bosox in the loss column... -

Re: 85-62 The Beginning or the End???
Sat, September 17, 2005 - 9:15 PMInteresting how Chacon and Small have been carrying them. -

Re: 85-63 The Beginning or the End???
Sun, September 18, 2005 - 9:14 PMWhat moron had a washed up Sierra playing in Right?? (He cost them two runs with his "defense") Why use a washed up Embree??
Crosby should have been allowed to play every day to see what he can do, but Torre has no guts... -
-
This is the maximum depth. Additional responses will not be threaded.
Re: 86-63 The Beginning or the End???
Mon, September 19, 2005 - 7:38 PMGo BUBBA!!! No more Sierra in the outfield, and when Sheffield comes back to play right, no more Bernie in center. -
-
Re: 86-63 The Beginning or the End???
Mon, September 19, 2005 - 7:57 PMSince the Red Sox lost tonight, the Yankees are tied with them in the loss column, which means that they are finally virtually tied for first place. -

Re: 86-63 The Beginning or the End???
Tue, September 20, 2005 - 7:22 AMlast series could be very interesting. -
-
Re: 87-63 The Beginning or the End???
Tue, September 20, 2005 - 8:09 PMOne thing that Torre is good at, is making blowouts close. Doesn't the moron understand why the Red Sox got rid of Embree?? -
-
Re: 87-63 The Beginning or the End???
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 6:28 AMEmbree is awful. He cannot get anyone out!!!! It sucks, but they'll have to use Mo every freaking night again. -
-
Re: 88-63 The Beginning or the End???
Wed, September 21, 2005 - 7:23 PMSox lost to TB, so Yankees are finally in first place.
Last nigth, Small was victimized by that stupid play on Surhoff's grounder in the second inning. It changed the complexion of his entire game. Wouldn't had to use Mo, if that play was handled properly, as Small would not have had such a tough inning, and probably would have been able to pitch at least seven. -
-
Re: 89-63 The Beginning or the End???
Thu, September 22, 2005 - 7:39 PMUp by one game. -
-
Re: 90-63 The Beginning or the End???
Fri, September 23, 2005 - 9:19 PMThey probably would have clinched already, if not for Torre. -

Re: 90-63 The Beginning or the End???
Sat, September 24, 2005 - 8:02 PMSox win, Yanks lose. Cleveland looking to run away with wildcard (if they don't take their division). -
-
Re: 90-63 The Beginning or the End???
Mon, September 26, 2005 - 7:55 AMUgh, WHY do they insist on starting Wright when Small has clearly been more effective??? I hope that game doesn't come back to kill us.
At least we made a comeback yesterday......and Clev. lost. -
-
Re: 93-65 The Beginning or the End???
Wed, September 28, 2005 - 8:58 PMAt least Sox lost and Indians lost. All Yanks have to do is win 3 of the next 4, if Torre doesn't blow it. -
-
Re: 93-65 The Beginning or the End???
Thu, September 29, 2005 - 9:03 AMTorre quotes:
He chose Wright over Small because "he was one of the original five starters"
"I like the way Embree's ball is moving" -
-
Re: 93-65 The Beginning or the End???
Thu, September 29, 2005 - 10:32 AMWell I am glad they have decided to go with Small tonight!!! -
-
Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Thu, September 29, 2005 - 8:20 PMSmall 10-0, and Torre has little confidence in him!! -
-
Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Thu, September 29, 2005 - 8:22 PMNow that the Sox have Mike Stanton, it should REALLY be an interesting series.. -

Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Fri, September 30, 2005 - 3:28 PMMy enthusiasm for the series was halved when I read that we now have Stanton! I saw him lose plenty of big games when I lived in Atlanta.
As a huge fan of this rivalry I couldn't dream of a better finish to the season. (well OK, maybe Sox one game up would be prefered). White Sox may play scrubs, giving Indians easy final weekend. Road to post season for Boston or NY goes thru AL East championship.
Good Luck (not really) -

Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Fri, September 30, 2005 - 8:25 PMI'm happy to win, don't get me wrong but can anyone explain to me why Torre left Wang in after he walked in a run? He obviously couldn't find the strike zone.
What does Joe do? He pulls ball throwing Wang to bring in Lietner so HE can walk Papi. jeez.

Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Sat, October 1, 2005 - 3:10 PMYes! I'll be the first to admit that I didn't think they could do it after their first-half mediocrity...AND I thought they'd become one of those "80s" teams that just missed out on the playoffs even with their late surge...
But now, I'm kind of optomisitic - they have one thing that was obviously missing last year - a starter that they can give the ball to when they REALLY need to win... -
-
Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Sat, October 1, 2005 - 3:11 PMOf course, I may have just jinxed them :( -

Re: 95-66 The Beginning or the End???
Sat, October 1, 2005 - 5:31 PMIt was in the bag all the way!!! LOL
I was hoping that it would be a tied game, and Francona would bring in Stanton to walk in the winning run. -
-
Re: 95-66 The Beginning or the End???
Sun, October 2, 2005 - 2:13 PMIt's the natural order of things, the Yankees step on the Red Sox on the way to yet another WS ring. -

Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Thu, October 13, 2005 - 9:06 AMSo Mel falls on his sword. Will this save Torre from criticism of how he handled his pitching staff? -
-
Re: 94-65 The Beginning or the End???
Fri, October 14, 2005 - 8:05 PMMel did his best with a staff who couldn't throw strikes and who had only one reliable pitcher - Mo - as either a starter or reliever. If he had Small or Wang or Chacon from Day 1, perhaps they wouldn't have blown out the meager bullpen.
If Torre had let some of his starters complete a game every now and then, perhaps the bullpen would not have been exhausted and spent.
One vital rule for the future: don't bring Rivera into a tie game unless it is absolutely necessary. He's the world's premier closer but he's just a regular reliever when it's in the 9th inning of a tie game with Tampa Bay.
