I read an interesting editorial yesterday comparing Brian Cashman and Paris Hilton, and how they both throw away someone else's money without regard for value. The article discusses what Cashman has been doing, since he's been on his own, without George Steinbrenner's meddling. The sports writer mentions such sharp signings as Jaret Wright and Carl Pavano. He makes special mention of this Japanese pitcher, now in Tampa for pitching instruction, who was already on the downslide in Japan. (I have tried hard to forget his name, but I believe that it's Ogawa.) Finally, he states, and I agree, that the amount of money paid for Roger Clemens to sign was idiotic.
I don't know how many of you have seen the recent artricles about some of the big names linked to steroid use, but Roger Clemens name has been mentioned as has Andy Pettitte.
If some of you remember back about Cashman, he was originally hired by the Yankees as George Steinbrenner's gofer, and he was made GM because he followed George's orders.
