Re: 49-41 New Beginning??
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 8:57 AMAs hard as it was I resisted the temtptaion to gloat after the 17-1 game, now I'm sure glad I didn't.
OK preseason is over and the AL East race can really begin. Will it be Sox-Yanks all the way or will Baltimore make a run??
On the one hand I'm glad to be where we are at the 1/2 way point without a closer (Foulke and Shill can't do it), but on the other hand I know the Sox wont repeat (did I really say that word??) without someone to shut the door in the post season.
Go rivalry. -

Re: 50-42 New Beginning??
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 9:10 PMWhy take out a guy pitching a shutout??? -
-
Re: 50-42 New Beginning??
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 9:16 PMI admit that I knew we would not hold the 1-0 lead after Moose was pulled. Again, having a pitch count fails the Yanks. But then, Park was moving his pitches all over the plate as well. Still, why not let Moose finish??? -

Re: 50-42 New Beginning??
Tue, July 19, 2005 - 9:23 PMThat's why they have four starters on the DL. Joe and Mels' 100 pitch count--pure stupidity!! -

Mon, July 25, 2005 - 8:08 PMis all really quiet on the trade front? with names like Soriano and Griffey flying around makes me think that Cashman is gonna bust a move. course we need young pitching arms more than anything, like Halsey and Vasquez. dope, they gone. -

Fri, July 29, 2005 - 7:17 PMfunny how you all have left the conversation. may be summer, may be that this team is a mess.
like I said after the 2004 ALCS, shame on Torre for blaming the starting pitching staff. gotta go, Cashman is calling -

Re: 54-46 New Beginning??
Tue, August 2, 2005 - 5:14 AMI think we've all just been depressed for most of the year. This team reminds me of all those expensive teams of the 80s - lots of star players, no decent pitching, lots of second and third place finishes...

Re: 60-52 New Beginning??
Wed, August 10, 2005 - 7:48 PMagain the bats fail a great pitching performance. this team is beyond pathetic. this team is done in 2005. -
-
Re: 60-52 New Beginning??
Thu, August 11, 2005 - 10:11 AMOnly a moron like Torre would have Bernie Williams playing center daily. This lost yesterday's game. Poor Bernie can't throw any longer, and he turned a double into a triple in the 10th inning. -
-
Re: 61-52 New Beginning??
Thu, August 11, 2005 - 10:06 PMWhy did boob Torre take out Proctor, and bring in the washed up Embree??? -
-
Re: 61-52 New Beginning??
Fri, August 12, 2005 - 7:04 AMTorre will have a lot of explaining to do when this disaster is over. 2004 ALCS and now this. It just keeps getting worse. -
-
Re: 61-52 New Beginning??
Fri, August 12, 2005 - 6:40 PM2 years ago I could not imagine anybody but Joe Torre managing the Yankees for the next 5 years. Now I find myself thinking about people like Joe Giradi, Don Mattingly, or even Tino...
How about bringing back Buck Showalter? -

Re: 62-52 New Beginning??
Fri, August 12, 2005 - 9:54 PMHow about Lou Piniella? -
-
Re: 62-52 New Beginning??
Sat, August 13, 2005 - 11:38 AMJust put a cardboard cutout of Billy Martin in the dugout. That would add more life to the Yanks than Torre does. And even the real Billy Martin didn't destroy his pitching staffs the way Torre does. -
-
Re: 63-52 New Beginning??
Sat, August 13, 2005 - 9:41 PMWhy can't the boob let Moose finish a game?? -
-
Re: 63-52 New Beginning??
Sun, August 14, 2005 - 7:53 AMRE: "Why can't the boob let Moose finish a game??"
I blame Moose as much as I blame Torre on this one. With the exception of 3 tough innings vs. the Red Sox in the playoffs a few years ago, Moose just doesn't seem to be tough enough to finish what he starts. Whenever he comes close to finishing something off (like even his "perfect game), he fails just at the end. I can't recall any Yankee pitcher like Moose who can pitch so well for so long and then blow up so quickly.
And thanks to the likes of Moose and Torre, it looks as though Rivera has finally been blown out. 7 appearances in 10 games .. and not all of them were even save situations. What a misuse of talent by Torre. -
-
Re: 64-52 New Beginning??
Sun, August 14, 2005 - 9:09 PMIf you watched the game, it was an outside pitch that the guy hit to the opposite field for the two-run homer. It really wasn't any reason to take Moose out... -

Re: 65-54 New Beginning??
Wed, August 17, 2005 - 7:31 PMtorre has lost his mind. I am more convinced that Zimmer was the leader of the team during the Championship years. last night Proctor tossed 17 pitches and walked 3 batters, INCLUDING WALKING IN THE WINNING RUN, on 4 pitches!!!
